Heat: Eyelash extensions worst enemy.
You may think water is your lashes worst enemy but actually its heat.
Heat can alter your lashes. Eyelash extension eyelashes usually consists of these three types: Mink, Faux Mink and Silk. Mink fur has been chemically processed and faux mink and silk are both made from a fiber called PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) BASICALLY a type of plastic.
When you sweat a lot the heat from your body can alter your lash curl and can become straight over time. Your D curl will end up being a C curl, your C curl will end up being a B curl. So if you’re wondering why your super curly set has lost its curl over-time, this is probably why. If your’e an oily person, the combination go sweating and oil will cause your lashes to fall off even quicker

Eyelash Extension Materials
These are the 3 types of eyelash extension materials you will find in the market.
Mink- it’s called mink for a reason. This type of lash comes from the fur of an animal called “MINK”. Because it is fur, YES REAL FUR. FROM A REAL ANIMAL. They are the most soft, lightweight and natural looking of all the materials. They’re usually very expensive for a full set because the material is expensive in general. The furs are usually collected by brushing the minks fur coat and whatever falls off they collect. Many people don’t really know what mink is and just calls it mink without knowing what mink means. So do your research before getting a $300 “mink” set, it might just be synthetic mink material! Mink is not great for long term wear. Because the fur is chemically processed from straight to curly( fur does not have a natural curl) over time the fur will lose its curl and droop/ become limp. Because it is fur, there is no thickness or curl shape to choose from, you get what you get.
Synthetic Mink- most commonly used nowadays. They’re usually made from a specific fiber/ material called PBT. Basically plastic, similar materials you would find on false lash strips. They’re longer lasting, will hold a curl (unless it’s exposed to heat) can be natural, lightweight and they usually have a matte finish to them. Because it is manufactured, there are a variety of curls, lengths, and thickness to choose from.
Silk- similar to synthetic mink, also made from a material that is basically plastic called PBT. The only difference between silk and synthetic mink is that silk usually has a shiny finish, more of a strip lash look.
